2nd Annual Climate Case Competition

March 16 & 17, 2023, 2:00 – 5:00pm PST (5:00 – 8:00pm EST)

Online via Zoom

An HNYC event partnered with UBC Faculty of Forestry

The HNYC Climate Change Case competition invites individual and self-organized high school students to engage in this exciting event, with a team of 3-5 to navigate the ins and outs of a provided case study to conduct research and build a presentation that will help Canada become carbon neutral.

In its second year, this competition is completely organized and managed by the youth members of HNYC. Participants will have the chance to research and present their ideas on balancing Canada’s environment and economy while transitioning toward sustainability. With growing concerns about unbalanced systems and the urgent need for a solution, this competition provides a platform for students to showcase their ideas and compete against peers with diverse perspectives.

The topic for this year’s competition is How to Make Canada a Carbon-Neutral Country. The topic explores the 11th SDG of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: Sustainable Cities & Communities.
